Weave of the Moirai

We are happy to announce our next program item for Grenselandet 2025!

The 2025 recreation of Weaw of the Moirai is written and organized by Eirik Fatland, Lars Wingård and Frida Sofie Jansen. With music composed by Øystein Bech-Aase and Hans Mikkel Melhus.

Orpheus, god of music, is set to marry the dryad Eurydice. Their glamorous wedding is attended by gods, heroes and spirits who drink and dance and fall in love. But this is not a tale that ends happily ever after - the Moirai, goddesses of fate, have other plans.

Weave of the Moirai is a recreation in English of the celebrated Norwegian larp Moirais Vev from 1997. The four acts of the larp will take us from joy and love to fury and vengeance, and from the land of the living to the land of the dead. The larp is physical, theatrical, musical, erotic, philosophical, brutal and poetic - incorporating multiple Greek myths, drawing on ancient Greek theatre as well as larp ritual improv.

17 participants will play protagonists, pre-written characters with destinies to fulfill, such as the beekeeper-god Aristaios or Argeia princess of Thrace. The remainder will play the chorists - party attendants who sometimes form the Speaking Chorus that will gather to comment in unison on the doings of the protagonists.

The 1997 original Moirias Vev was created by Eirik Fatland, Lars Wingård, Erlend Eidsem Hansen, Karen Winther, Martin Bull-Gundersen and Andreas Kolle, with costume design by Britta Bergersen.

The larp lasts for approximately 4 hours

Prosjektet Moirais Vev er støttet av Kulturdirektoratet
